Spring 2022 REC Soccer Overview

We're excited for the start of our upcoming Spring 2022 recreation soccer season. Our REC Academy is a great place for boys & girls to learn the game of soccer. Through fun reality-based small-sided games (Play/Practice/Play format), our experienced, licensed coaches teach the fundamental soccer skills important for players to improve and reach the next level.

The Recreation Academy encompasses multiple age groups and a development pathway that progresses not only in age but from basic to complex principles. Our curriculum allows for players to develop at their own pace and when they're ready and if the player and family has the desire and commitment to do so, enter into our Travel Academy.

Starting with our Eaglet program for players born in 2018 & 2019 or U3 & U4. This is an introductory FUN soccer class focused on basic movement skills, coordination, and the relationship between the player and the ball.

As players progress in age the Micro Academy is next for players born in 2016 & 2017 (U5 & U6). The Micro Academy is an introductory class for kids to begin their journey learning the game of soccer. Our top instructors teach basic soccer skills with fun small-sided games to inspire a love and passion for soccer.

Next is our REC 1 age groups for players born in 2014 & 2015 (U7 & U8) and 2012 & 2013 (U9 & U10). REC 1 is great for players to continue learning with age-appropriate fun small-sided games, to improve technical skills- primarily dribbling and passing and receiving (first touch), and to develop a passion for the game!

In REC 2 players learn basic principles of play and understanding of the field space in fun, small-sided games- 3 v 3 or 4 v 4- triangles, squares, and diamond shapes. Our coaches guide players to improve their first touch of the ball, keeping possession of the ball, and passing technique. The goal is to maximize quality touches of the ball in each session. REC 2 is for players born in 2010 & 2011 (U11 & U12)

More advanced principles of play and enhanced technique in fun, small-sided practice and game formats are taught in REC 3 (players born in 2008 & 2009- U13/U14) Instructors emphasize concepts of combination play, moving the ball from one side of the field to the other, attacking penetrating passes, keeping possession of the ball, and defensive technique.

If you noticed, the word 'fun' is often used in the descriptions of each age group's activities. There's a reason for that- one of our core beliefs in our club is that fun is an effective way to spark in the young player the passion and love for the beautiful game of soccer. When it's fun we can also teach the values of Respect, Integrity, and Dedication. Fun matters, character matters!

The REC Academy Spring 2022 season starts at the end of March. February is a great time to register as late fees start on March 1.
