Grassroots/REC Program Info- Spring 24 (Outdoor)

Eaglet Academy U4 Co-ed (born between January 1, 2020-April 1, 2021). Players must be 3 years old prior to the start of the season.

Course Description: The Grassroots/Eaglet Academy is our introductory course for young players beginning their soccer journey. An experienced instructor will lead the group and introduce the basic ABC's- agility, balance, and coordination skills in seven, fun-focused, half hour sessions. Players will be introduced to their first relationship with the ball and begin discovering the magical game of soccer. The Eaglet Academy typically meets on Saturday mornings starting April 6. 

Included:

  • Seven (7) sessions (1/2 hour in duration) on Saturdays starting 4/6*;
  • End of the season-closing ceremonies and awards;
  • Access to the club's TeamSnap account for scheduling and notifications.

Micro Academy U5-U6 Boys & Girls (Born between Jan. 1, 2018-Dec. 31, 2019)

Course Description: The Grassroots/Micro-Academy is for boys and girls of all skill levels. The focus for players in this age group is on playing small-sided games in a fun, social environment learning basic movement skills, directional play, elementary attacking and defensive principles of play, basic dribbling and passing skills and first touch/ball control skills. The program utilizes the Play/Practice/Play format in alignment with the US Youth Soccer's Grassroots and FC Dulles curriculum. Coaches run small-sided games, 3 v 3 or 4 v 4, in forty-five minute sessions in our Free Play sessions on Friday, and our REC Jamboree Sessions on Saturdays. Over the course of the season, advanced players are identified as prospective players and invited to our travel program starting in the Fall 2024 season

REC Academy U7-U9 Boys & Girls (born 2015-2017):

Course Description: The Grassroots/REC Academy is for boys and girls of all skill levels. Players are introduced to the FC Dulles REC Curriculum with an emphasis dribbling, passing and receiving, and shooting/finishing skills. Basic tactical phases of attacking and defending are introduced through small-sided games in our Play-Practice-Play format. Players will meet 3x/week over seven weeks for a training session on Monday nights, a free play session on Friday nights, and an in-house competition (REC Jamboree) on Saturdays in our REC Jamboree. It is during these sessions that we begin to ID players to play on future FC Dulles travel teams.

Included:

SFL- Suburban Friendship League (soon to be NCSL-REC) 

Description: Players in our SFL (NCSL-REC) age groups (U10-U19) play competitive games with referees against other clubs in the area. Players are grouped into teams with a coach whose primary responsibility is to create a fun, social environment to learn the game of soccer. Players in the SFL (NCSL-REC) age groups are developed in accordance with the FC Dulles Grassroots/REC Curriculum in conjunction with US Youth Soccer's Play/Practice/Play format. SFL (NCSL-REC) teams will have practices 2x/week with an emphasis in the younger age groups on technical skill development (dribbling, passing & receiving, and shooting, individual defending and attacking, and in the older groups more of an emphasis on team tactical phases i.e. attacking, defending, transitional play). SFL (NCSL-REC) teams play 8 games on Saturdays against clubs local to Northern Virginia.

Please note: Players who purchased the royal blue FC Dulles Grassroots/REC uniform kit in a prior season are not required to purchase a new uniform kit unless needed. For returning SFL players, if using a uniform from a previous season please input that number on the player form during registration. Otherwise, jersey #s will be assigned.
